Sweeping paint

Here is a piece created by sweeping paint over an image then screen printing
the text over and finally applying more paint! This piece was created with two images;
one image was screen printed and painted on then the shape of the paint was cut out
and collaged over the second image (both identical images!)

This image below is a very large piece 100 cm x 195 cm! I applied acrylic paint to a
piece of card and swiped it across the photograph taken from Rian Johnson's 2006 film
Brick. I watched the film and hand wrote everything that was said whilst the film
played without pausing it. This text was typed up and screen printed over the paint.
A lot of newspaper was used so not to allow the text to print on the photograph!

This images were created to play on the idea of film being a form of escapism and
how this can be stopped. The medium acts as a barrier making the viewer unable to
'fall' into piece. They are unable to see the expression on the person behind the
paint therefore they decide for themselves what the narrative may be.
